UFC 72 Results
Here are the results from yesterday afternoon’s UFC 72 event from Belfast, Ireland. I had not been excited about this fight from the beginning and exactly what I thought was going to happen, happened. The event provided little excitement overall as the two biggest fights of the event failed to provide any excitement as they both went to decisions. Both came out unanimous for the favorites in the matchups…
- Rich Franklin def. Yushin Okami via unanimous decision
- Forrest Griffin def. Hector Ramirez via unanimous decision
- Jason MacDonald def. Rory Singer via TKO (strikes) - Round 2, 3:18
- Tyson Griffin def. Clay Guida via split decision
- Ed Herman def. Scott Smith via submission (rear naked choke) - Round 2, 2:25
- Marcus Davis def. Jason Tan via KO - Round 1, 1:15
- Eddie Sanchez def. Colin Robinson via TKO (strikes) - Round 2, 0:32
- Dustin Hazelett def. Stevie Lynch via submission (d’arce choke) - Round 1, 2:50

The main events may have been a bit of a letdown (the Franklin/Okami fight moreso than the Griffin/Ramirez one) but the card was worth the price of admission just to watch the Tyson Griffin vs. Clay Guida match. It was the tactical equivalent (in terms of a good fight) of Griffin/Bonnar 1. That fight was nothing less than amazing! It may have been the greatest fight that I have EVER seen.
