The Real Drama of Boxing vs. the Fake Drama of the WWE and the NBA

I recently updated my b5 profile with the intention of explaining how www.jabandgrapple.com could cover both the scripted fun of pro wrestling entertainment and the unexpected life-threating tension of professional boxing. My answer wasn’t that they both take place in rings and involve some sort of combat.
No, my explanation was that they are bookends of […]

The Undertaker Gets His Revenge…on a Wheelchair-Bound Woman

For Part One of the May 16 SmackDown recap click here.
The proud half dozen make their way towards the ring looking increasingly paranoid. Are they afraid of a second indoor lightning strike? Edge is, well, edgy. Either Curt Hawkins or Zack Ryder is pushing Vicki Guerrero along. We can’t tell them apart. But where […]

Vicki Guerrero vs. the WWE Board of Directors

Seven wrestlers had a part in last week’s Smackdown Main Event battle royal ending with Edge securing his Judgment Day PPV title shot against The Undertaker. How many people would be participating in this week’s Smackdown Main Event? Two, three, four? How about another lucky seven!
Six persons including wheelchair-bound Vicki Guerrero vs. The Undertaker. The […]

b5media Sport Channel Shares Childhood Sport Memories

With Mother’s Day behind us and Father’s Day ahead, the b5media sports bloggers are looking back at our childhood sports memories. Most of us tried to harken back to the old days and say a little something something about the sports we love.

Steroids and Name Calling

Two terrific interviews have appeared out there in cyberspace over the past few days revealing a great deal about the underbelly of pro wrestling.

ECW 101: Miz and Morrison Win Tonight, Will Surely Lose on Sunday

ECW Results
The Miz def. CM Punk
Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, & Cherry def. Layla, Victoria, & Natalya
Mike Knox def. Colin Delaney
Armando Estrada def. Colin Delaney
John Morrison def Kane

Tonight’s ECW gets off to a surprisingly good start with CM Punk facing The Miz. We immediately think mismatch; The Miz is a good tag team partner but […]

Monday Night Raw: The Glorious Return of the Steel Cage

The Main Event
Between bouts Beth Phoenix appears and complains about not having the Women’s Title. We pretend she’s not there and move on to the next interview: Randy Orton. Orton is snarling, Orton is boastful and he’s ready for John Cena. He pulls out his litany of self-promotion. “I’ve taken out the best” blah blah […]

Monday Night Raw: The Glorious Return of Jeff Hardy

The Build Up
72% of WWE fans believe Shawn Michaels‘ knee injury is real. We are not one of them. Neither was Y2J but he now admits that after their last Monday match he is convinced and wants to apologize. Shawn Michaels limps in, his knee looking at least 10x worse than last week and a […]

Monday Night Raw: The Glorious Return of John Cena

The Setup
There’s some big bad out-of-control bullying going on. For the third(!) week in a row RAW General Manager William Regal is angry about being disrespected. This time, instead of turning out the lights, he’s kicking out a random pair in the audience. Miraculously, he picks out Mickie James‘ brother and sister to toss. Evidently […]
