The Ultimate Fighter 8.06 Recap
The Junie Browning Saga continues in last night episode of The Ultimate Fighter 8. Frank Mir was pretty happy to win last weeks fight and gain control of the fights. Team Mir ended up pitting Junie Browning up against Roli Delgado. During the fight announcement and Face-To-Face, Junie brings a black-belt in, throws it on the ground and spits at it. More psychological warfare and Junie looking like an asshole once again.
The Black Belt
Everyone to include Frank Mir was skeptical on the legitimacy of Delgado’s black belt because it was a long drawn out story of how he earned it. However, Delgados team mates said that Roli was good at Jui-Jitsu.
The Weigh In
The night before the weigh in Junie weighed 163 and at the time of weigh in he weighed 158, so he had an hour to lose 2 pounds. Frank Mir is a bit unhappy about this. Junie donned hi sauna suit and Dave Kaplan helps him shed the two pounds to make the weight for the fight.
The Fight
The fight was long and kind of boring. Junie wanted to keep the fight on foot. A lot of punches were exchanged and it didn’t appear that Roli’s punches really had anything behind them and his kicks were slow. Slow enough that Junie was able to catch them a few times. Junie even show-boated a bit by letting Delgado hit him in the face a few times, but didn’t think about the judges scoring Roli points off of those punches. He was just trying to show Delgado that he wasn’t hurting him.
Like I said, the fight was long and slow and went to three rounds. Junie was throwing some good, hard body blows as well as some combinations to Roli’s face that would have put most fighters down. I think everyone underestimated Roli and his iron jaw. Junie looked gassed early into the fight, but Delgado didn’t look much better. After three rounds, Junie wins by sudden victory, Split Decision. Afterwards, Junie approaches Noguiera and apologizes for the black belt incident, showing a little bit of compassion…but will probably throw it all away with some stupid gesture next week.
Team Mir wins and holds on to control of the fights. Next week we’ll see some light heavyweights go at it. Here is what the teams are looking like now:
