Quietman No More: Ruiz Challenges Media to Pay Up or Shut Up

by admin on August 10th, 2008

Or, more properly, to put their money where there mikes are.

Fed up with media types (hey, don’t look at us . . . We’re only guest blogging) talking smack about his clutch-and-grab style, John “The Quietman” Ruiz has issued a challenge. The WBA heavyweight champ times two invites reporters to place a bet on whether he or his upcoming opponent Nikolai Valuev will hold more in their August 30 fight in Berlin.

Why so sure? Ruiz, who would donate any bets to his charity, says he doesn’t fight like that anymore. So there.

So I guess we can say—wait for it—that the gloves are off and Ruiz is ready to rumble. (Oh come on, you know that saying is too good to pass up in a post like this . . . )
