SmackDown Recap (March 7, 2008)
- CM Punk, Jesse & Festus def. ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero & WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison
- United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter def. Batista (Count-out)
- Kane def. Chuck Palumbo
- Big Show def. Jamie Noble
- World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder def. Undertaker (3-on-1 Handicap Match)
Another lackluster showing on Friday night as WWE tries to build hype for Wrestlemania. The Big Show win was another squash over someone like Floyd Mayweather while Edge topped Undertaker in an okay main event.
If Mayweather is seriously making $20 million for this appearance, though I put the number somewhere in the low single-digits, he needs to actually appear to make this worthwhile for people to buy. Calling it in or just having Show crush small wrestlers is not going to generate the hype this match needs to carry the PPV. There’s still hope as Wrestlemania remains several weeks away but right now this storyline is not very good at all.
