Details Emerge on Suspended Wrestlers
At this point the names of the 10 suspended wreslters are not official known though the New York Daily News and Sports Illustrated have compiled lists of wrestlers linked to Signature Pharmacy in Orlando which is the focus of a major investigation of illegal steroid use in sports.
According to the Daily News the following wrestlers have been linked to the pharmacy and are among the likely suspensions:
- Randy Orton
- Charlie Haas
- Adam Copeland (Edge)
- Robert Huffman (Booker T)
- Shane Helms (Gregory Helms)
- Mike Bucci - Head of WWE Talent
- Anthony Carelli (Santino Marella)
- John Hennigan (Johnny Nitro, John Morrison)
- Darren Matthews (William Regal)
- Ken Anderson (Mr. Kennedy)
- Eddie Fatu (Umaga)
- Shoichi Funaki (Funaki)
- Chavo Guerrero
- Sylvain Grenier (Sylvan)
Additional reports from ESPN added the names of Dave Bautista (Batista) and Chris Mordetzky (Chris Masters) to the list as well. Deceased wrestlers Brian “Crush” Adams, Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero were also on the list of clients according to the reports.
If even most of the mentioned wrestlers have been suspended the landscape of the WWE has changed drastically. Orton was a top contender for the WWE Championship, Morrison and Umaga were both title holders, Regal is the GM of Raw, and Batista, Kennedy, and Marella were all being portrayed as title contenders and were deeply involved in current storylines.
I will post an update whenever I learn more but it appears the WWE has suspended much of it’s top talent for their connections with the ongoing steroid investigation.
