PM Update on Benoit Deaths
Now that the pace at which the news surrounding the murders of Chris Benoit’s wife and son as well as his own death has slowed here is your evening update on the circumstances of this case:
- Benoit placed bibles next to his wife and son before hanging himself using a weight machine.
- Prescription anabolic steroids have been found in the home but whether he was actively using them or if they affected the killings has not and will not be known. WWE is reporting that he tested negative for steroid use in April when he was last tested and added that it was unlikely they had any role in killings.
- Benoit’s state of mind leading up to the killings hasn’t been publicly discussed and now suicide not was found so unless more evidence is released or surfaces a true motive may never be known.
- His wife, Nancy, had filed for divorce and a restraining order in 2003 alleging cruel treatment but she dismissed the filing.
- Nancy was found in an upstairs family room with her hands and feet bound. Blood was found under he head and on her face and bruises were on her body indicating she was pressed to the floor during a struggle. The fact that he hands and feet were pound seem to point to more than an accidental death based on speculation alone.
- His son was likely not alive during the Vengeance PPV as he likely took his own life late Saturday or early Sunday.
- Their son, Daniel, had reportedly been given HGH (human growth hormone) for some time via shots in his arm as the family felt he was undersized.
- The first text message Benoit sent to an unnamed recipient stated that his wife and son were ill although they were likely dead by the time the message was sent.
- A second message, reportedly sent to Chavo Guerrero, stated that the sliding glass doors to his house were open and that his dogs had been fed.
- The text messages were likely an attempt to have someone uncover the bodies.
