LIVE Judgment Day Coverage
**WWE Champion John Cena def. The Great Khali
Cena goes right at Khali to start the match and Khali just pounds and pounds on him with clotheslines, slams, and hits. With Cena down he goes for a pin and Cena gets the rope to get out of the pin. Khali with a big Irish Whip to Cena who is getting handled so far. Khali goes at Cena but he moves and Khali is down. Cena goes off the rope at Khali and then goes for a pin but he kicks out. Khali lands a big kick to Cena who is sent out of the ring. Khali puts him into the announcers table several times before being pushed back into the ring.
Khali is working on a shoulder submission of some sort but Cena powers out, bounces off the ropes and hits Khali who stumbles on to the ropes. Khali is tied up in the ropes and Cena pounds away but Khali gets his arms loose and immediately puts Cena to the mat. Cena takes Khali down and locks in the STFU. He is holding out tapping as he continus the hold but he is finally forced to tap out as John Cena is able to become the first person to win over Khali, retaining his WWE title in the process.
** MVP def. Chris Benoit to win the United States Championship
They lock up to start and MVP seems to gain an edge but Benoit counters. Benoit continues his work on MVP dropping knees onto MVP’s back. A couple of 2 counts for Benoit but no pin yet for the Rabid Wolverine. MVP finally gets some momentum in the match but Benoit goes for the crossface on MVP. He escapes to the bottom rope and gets out of the submission. Next he goes for the sharpshooter and he again escapes by getting to the rope. MVP finally counters with a playmaker and pins Benoit to go up 1-0.
MVP starts strong in the next portion of the match scoring several near falls on Benoit but he kicks out of the attempts. Benoit is selling an injured leg/knee and MVP continues to attack it. MVP hooks a big submission butBenoit is able to escape the hold getting a hold of the bottom rope. Benoit comes back with a crossface but MVP escapes attacking his knee. Benoit comes back to MVP who quickly counters with a roll up to win the match 2-0 and become the NEW United States Champion.
** World Heavyweight Champion Edge def. Batista
Batista controls the match early on making Edge look off his game. Batista uses his size to his advantage to control Edge and dominate the first part of the match. They counter back and forth as Edge finally gains an upper hand in the match and continues to attack Batista wearing him down. Each get several pin attempts with Batista getting several on Edge but they both continue to kick out.
After the lengthy back and forth pins Batista goes for a spinebuster but Edge escapes and quickly rolls Batista up and gets the 3 count to retain the title.
** WWE Tag Team Champions The Hardys def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
Cade and Matt start the match off working back and forth. Cade with the early momentum works on Matt but he quickly escapes and lands a big elbow and tags in Jeff as the momentum quickly changes. Murdoch is now tagged in as well as the new pair lock it up. Jeff gets taken down but quickly gets up and gets tied up. He’s sent into the ropes and Murdoch doesn’t land much as Jeff escapes. After a brief stare down they lock up and Jeff looks to gain an upper hand eventually tagging Matt in. Matt quickly scores a take down and a pin but Murdock kicks out.
Matt climbs to the top rope and lands a big elbow and covers but its kicked out. Murdoch tags Cade back in and he takes Matt out and gets a 2 count. Back to their feet and Murdoch is quickly tagged back in to exchange a few blows and then tag Cade in again. Matt is worked on in the corner with some boots by Cade who then tags Murdoch in again. Matt counters an attempt by Murdoch and tags Jeff back in. He goes to the top rope with a big hit on Murdoch but he only gets a 2 count. Cade breaks up another attempt and Matt joins as both of the challengers are sent out of the ring. After a count out starts Murdoch gets back into the ring with Jeff.
Murdoch sets Jeff up for a slam in the corner but Jeff vaults him out of the ring but Murdoch counters when Jeff attacks him outside of the ring, missing and hitting the floor hard. Jeff is back into the ring and Murdoch gets a quick cover but no success. Cade is tagged back in as he works on the downed Jeff Hardy. Cade tags his partner in and they do a combo slam but Jeff kicks out. Jeff gets back to his feet but Murdoch puts him down with a big kick. Another 2 count but Jeff is out yet again. Cade is tagged back in and goes for a pin and it’s another kick out for Jeff. Murdoch is tagged in yet again.
Murdoch goes for another attempted pin but Matt comes into the ring and breaks it up. Jeff counters and both wrestlers are down. Both get to their partners and an energized Matt takes out Cade and gets a 2 count. Murdoch comes in to interfere but is sent out by Matt. Cade takes him out while he’s turned away. He goes for a pin on Matt but he kicks out yet again. Matt lands a big move then tags in Jeff who lands a Swanton Bomb off the top rope then covers for the pin to retain their titles. After the match the Hardys celebrate and shake hands with Cade and Murdoch before leaving the ring.
**Randy Orton def. Shawn Michaels
Orton begs for the announcer to announce that Orton is the winner by forfeit but just as he starts the announcement Michael’s music hits and HBK comes to the ring against doctor’s orders. The ref begs him not to compete in the match but Michaels is persistent and the ref calls for the bell as Orton attacks Michaels going for his head. Michaels is pulled from the outside of the ropes into the ring and Orton lands a DDT but Michaels kicks out of the pin attempt. Orton continues the assault on Michaels.
Michaels is trying to get up and Orton sets up for an RKO but Michaels just falls to the mat. Instead Orton perches him onto the top rope and sets up but Michaels comes back by gouging the eyes of Orton. Orton comes back but is pushed to the ground. HBK climbs to the top rope and hits a big move on Orton. Michaels stumbles around the ring as the announcers call for the match to end as HBK doesn’t know what he’s doing. Sweet Chin Music gets prepared and he goes at Orton but he falls over. Meanwhile Orton has returned to his feet and Michaels is trying to get up. The ref calls the match because of Michaels condition giving Orton the win.
The ref helps HBK get up and Orton promptly hits a big RKO on him. Medical personnel come to the ring to help Michaels as Orton leaves.
**CM Punk def. Elijah Burke
They scramble after a short stare down. Punk mainly defending his body as he scrambles and throws some kicks and he wraps Burke up trying to keep him away but he escapes and Burke attacks his ribs. CM uses a head lock on him to keep him away but Burke escapes and sends Punk into the corner. He attacks and then they stare down some more but he puts Punk into the corner again. He whips him out but Punk reverses and takes Burke down. A couple of kicks from Punk then a nice slam. Quick attempted pin but Burke kicks out. He works him some more on the ground before Burke gets up and reverses the action landing some hard rights to Punk’s ribs.
Big spin kick by Punk then a Tbone takes Burke to the mat. They stand back up with more attacks by Punk. Burke counters but Punk keeps momentum. Huge vertical suplex by Punk after a lengthy delay. Goes for the pin but kick out. Then he gets a hold on Burke but he escapes. Burke with some elbows to Punk and he continues to focus on the ribs. Burke is in the corner and Punk throws some forearms into the side of his head. He takes him to the ground and he kicks out. Burke gains momentum again and works on Punks with some more head shots to the ribs.
Reverse of action by Punk with a big boot on a charge but Burke sends Punk out of the ring. Sunset flip by Punk for a quick 2 count. Keeps working a headlock pin combo for a one count but he eventually picks Burke up and sends him over the top rope. The count out on Burke begins and Punk goes flying out of the ring at Burke with a great hit. They get back in the ring and Punk goes for the pin but he kicks out. Elijah gains the momentum and gets several near falls on a downed CM Punk. He pulls Punks up and lays him over the top rope. Kick by Burke and another 2 count. Punk gets locked into a rib submission of some sort but he escapes and returns to his feet. Burke regains control with some big suplexes. Burke goes for the submission again but Punk escapes and starts pounding on him.
Punk tries to whip him into the rope but Burke with a big boot and gets a 2 count. Elijah goes to the top ropes and Punks climbs up too and they work on the top rope until CM does a huge superplex putting both men down. Both get back to their feet and exchange blows. Punk gets a close 2 count on Elijah. They trade blows on their feet again with Burke going for a charge. Punk reverses and gets the GTS but he doesn’t land it. Burke working Punk again on the ropes ending with the “Elijah express”. Burke covers but Punk has the ropes.
CM Punk quickly counters with the go to sleep and gets the pin.
** Bobby Lashley def. ECW World Champion Mr. McMahon, Shane McMahon & Umaga (Mr. McMahon Retains)
The bell rings and Lashley dominates from the start taking everyone out including Umaga. Hugh suplex on Shane and massive hit to Umaga . He goes for the pin and it is all over. Bobby Lashley is the new ECW Champion. After some celebrating and stare downs Umaga comes out of nowhere and attacks Lashley from behind then gets the Samoan spike as Vince picks up the ECW title. Vince takes to the mic to tell Lashley that to win the title he had to pin vince so it appears there is not a new champion after all. The 3 walk off as Lashley recovers in the ring.
**Ric Flair def. Carlito
Carlito spits his apple at Flair to get the match started. They trade back and forth attacks before Flair sends him out of the ring. Carlito tries to get in the ring and Flair attacks but he eventually gets in the ring and attacks him taking control. Lands some hard shots on Flair eventually sending him to the ground. Carlito continues the assault with boots to the back before locking in a hammerlock.
Flair musters up the strength to return to his feet and lands a few shots but Carlito comes back with a big hit to send Flair to the mat. Carlito continues to work on him setting up for an attack on his arm before putting him back in the ring into the corner and launching more punches. Carlito goes for the pin and Flair kicks out. He goes down for another but Flair counters with a kick. He keeps working on the arm. He wraps Flair’s arm around the post and then he rolls Flair up for another attempted pin but flair gets out.
Flair finally counters and gets back to his feet slapping Carlito’s chest but Carlito takes him down again. He goes for a 3 count and Flair escapes so he switches to a submission on the Nature Boy. He continues the submission for a while but the ref finally breaks it and Flair comes back with some big hits. Nothing going for Flair as he counters with more shots to Flair who’s trapped in the corner. He sends Flair to the ground and locks on another submission.
Flair gets up and throws Carlito down but Carlito quickly counters going for a pin and Flair quickly kicks out. It’s back to another submission attempt for Carlito. Drop kick onto The Nature Boy and he kicks out of another attempted pin. They go back to their feet and Carlito continues but when he goes at Flair he counters with a punch and takes control of the match for now. Flair beats on Carlito for a while but it is eventually reversed onto the ground and Carlito unsuccessfully goes for a pin. He locks another submission onto Flair’s arm. The ref makes him break the hold a few times but he locks right back on. Finally he gives up on the attempts and starts kicking a downed Flair. He’s working on an arm submission on the mat now.
Finally Flair gains control again and lands some good shots to Carlito. He sends him into the ropes and does a few slaps before vaulting him over his shoulder for the slam. He starts to get up and Flair goes into his knees. Carlito gets up and Flair works him in the corner. Carlito falls to the mat and Flair continue to kick him before doing a knee drop. Flair locks in a figure four leg lock and after resisting Carlito taps out giving Flair a submission win.
**Backstage Segments
Shawn Michaels is interviewed about what Randy Orton did to him on Raw this past week. He says rumors were that he wouldn’t be wrestling then Orton comes out of no where and sends him into a wall. They are immediately separated as Michaels lays injured on the floor.
The doctor tells Shawn that he won’t let him wrestle tonight as the camera cuts to the ring.
Edge talks backstage about how big his past 2 weeks have been and that the Rated R era has just begun.
