Edge Wins Money in the Bank Opportunity; Judgement Day Matches Announced
- Candice Michelle & Mickie James def. Melina & Victoria
- Santino Marella def. Chris Masters
- Umaga def. The Highlanders
- The Great Khali def. Shawn Michaels (WWE Championship #1 Contenders Match)
- The Hardys def. The World’s Greatest Tag Team
- Edge def. Mr. Kennedy (MITB opportunity on the line)
- John Cena vs. Randy Orton (No winner)
Very packed Raw for matches but a very bad night for the WWE. First off we learn that at Judgement Day we will see Bobby Lashley vs. Mr. McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Umaga in an identical rematch to what we saw at Backlash. There might eventually be an additional stipulation or rule added to this match to give it a little new flavor. Also, it was announced the winner of Khali vs. HBK would face Cena and sure enough Khali wins so it’s Cena vs. Khali (let the criticism begin).
Edge winning the MITB match was a bit surprising as reports on Mr. Kennedy were sketchy but not entirely surprising. Who knows, we may eventually see Kennedy come back from the injury and win the opportunity back. Injuries have killed the WWE’s momentum and there is so little talent available right now for the WWE to keep things fresh. I would not be surprised to see a draft fairly soon to see some talent move around and keep the shows interesting. I could go on and on about tonight but it was so bad and the matches announced for Judgement Day are absolutely terrible. I just hope something good develops this week on SmackDown or Judgement Day is shaping up to be a pretty boring event.
