Mr. Kennedy Announces Money in the Bank Match

by Kris on May 1st, 2007

This may be one of the earliest match announcements ever in the WWE but in over 300 days Money in the Bank winner Mr. Kennedy will face a yet-to-be-named opponent in one of the main events of Wrestlemania 24. Kennedy delivered the announcements on a great Raw that kept fans guessing and threw in some matches for good measure. Lots and I mean lots was learned on the show.

Santino Marella was shown on Raw in an interview with Todd Grisham. It was his first appearance since winning the title 2 weeks ago on Raw. Nothing new was learned but it gave a little back story for his charecter. In their singles match Edge topped a bloodied Randy Orton. After the match Edge expressed his displeasure of not being in contention for the WWE title.  Also early on Raw we learned of the nights main event: John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels III (non-title of course) and with a win Michaels would earn a title shot for next week.

As they announce the match Shawn Michaels is found bloodied backstage and, later on the show, Edge and Randy Orton are also beat down so Mr. McMahon points the finger at John Cena. Cena comes to the ring at the end of the show and the attacker is…

…The Great Khali. After a savage beating by Khali it appears Khali will be at least one part of the equation for John Cena’s title.

There was more action on the show but nothing quite as exciting as this. Ric Flair and Carlito are no longer tag partners as Carlito attacked Flair in their match with The World’s Greatest Tag Team. They brawl continued for quite some time. It seems like we’ll be seeing these two battle at Judgement Day on May 20.

Also, Jeff Hardy defeated Johnny Nitro with Cade & Murdoch as commentators. In other action RVD was topped by Umaga earlier on the night and there was a bad divas match that has no effect on the rest of the show at all.

This Raw was much better than the Raw following Wrestlemania and did a very good job establishing feuds, breaking others, and giving us a general sense of where the show is headed. Anyone else think this was one of the best Raws in a while or was it just me?
