Lashley, Punk Dominant on ECW
- ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley def. Umaga (DQ; Non-title)
- Snitsky def. Balls Mahoney
- The ECW Originals def. The New Breed (Eight-Man Elimination Match)
CM Punk’s time with the new breed was extremely short lived as Punk turned his back on his now former team attacking “leader” Elijah Burke allowing RVD to hit the frog splash for the win. Well now I have no idea where the WWE is headed with any of ECW’s storylines. The biggest disappointment for me was that there were no matches announced for Backlash so the card for the PPV appears set at just 6 matches.
After his DQ win over Umaga Lashley attacked Umaga’s handler Armando Alejandro Estrada making his statement just days before Lashley is set to face Umaga, Mr. McMahon, and Shane McMahon for the ECW title. Guess we’ll see if the WWE simply announces a match for Backlash on WWE.com rather than on TV but I am highly doubting it.
