UFC Fight Night 8 Profile: Clay Guida

by Kris on January 16th, 2007

Fighting out of: Chicago, Illinois
Age: 25
Height: 5 feet 7 inches
Weight: 155 pounds
MMA Record: 21-6-0 (1-0 UFC)

Clay Guida “The Carpenter” is a young gun when compared to many other UFC wrestlers although he has extensive MMA experience. He has solid wrestling skills in his repertoire. His flexibility has helped him get more than 50% of his decisions via submissions. He has pretty good endurance and in his last 5 bouts he has two 5 round, one 3 round, and one 2 round fight.

In his only UFC match “The Carpenter” beat Justin James at UFC 64: Unstoppable. He got the win via a rear naked choke submission. He has 3 (T)KOs for wins along with 11 submissions and 5 decisions. 4 of his 6 losses have come by submission.

For him to have a strong showing next Thursday Clay will need to be on his toes and have a strong submission defense. He will need to throw some solid punches and break Din Thomas down so he can take the match to the mat and get the submission.
