Monday Night Raw Results

by Kris on December 19th, 2006

Monday’s three-hour Monday night Raw was impressive. Raw opened with a 30-man battle royal for a match against John Cena later in the night for the WWE championship. Seemingly having won the match against 29 other competitors Shawn Michaels began to celebrate only to be vaulted over the top rope by Edge who had exited the ring under the ropes but hadn’t been eliminated. Tag-team champion Edge had secured his chance to upgrade his belt to the WWE Championship later in the night.

Edge and Cena then went head to head mid-way through the show with Edge seeming to have the momentum with several near three counts. In the action the referee was knocked out and both Randy Orton and DX got involved. Orton took out Cena then DX turned the tables by taking out Edge and positioning Cena for the win. Once the referee recovered Cena got the pin and retained his title.

After the first main event a second one was added to the 3-hour special and pitted John Cena and DX against Rated RKO and Umaga. With their match against DX at New Years Revolution getting closer Rated RKO pummeled their rivals. The match ended in a no-contest and even after the bell rang Randy Orton and Edge landed a double RKO to Shawn Michaels and hit Triple H over the head with a chair.

In other matches Johnny Nitro paired with Charlie Hass and Shelton Benjamin of The World’s Greatest Tag Team to take on The Hardys in a 3-on-2 handicap match. The match transpired as a result of the injury to Joey Mercury at Armageddon and ended when Nitro pinned IC Champ Jeff Hardy for the win.

Victoria took out Mickie James in a non-title match setting up their match at New Year’s Revolution. Carlito attacked Chris Masters in other action in which Carlito ended up running into a WWE camera and Chris Masters fleeing. Kenny Dykstra, formerly Kenny of the Spirit Squad, beat Ric Flair. K-Fed addressed the crowd stating that he never backs down from a challenge.

Sylvester Stallone of Rocky fame was interviewed live on the show and WWE introduced Vladimir Kozlov a “Russian Mixed Martial Arts Sambo champion.”
