Jab and Grapple - Boxing and Wrestling News and Analysis

Saturday Night ECW Action

by Kris on December 16th, 2006

In a special Saturday night wrestling event ECW took to the ring. Much has changed in the ECW since the last posting here at Jab and Grapple, namely Paul Heyman, the head of ECW was released and Big Show is on indefinite hiatus. Bobby Lashley took over as ECW champion after winning the extreme elimination chamber match at December to Dismember, ECW’s exclusive PPV. Anyways, more about that in a recap post later on.

As for tonight’s action the main event was ECW champ Bobby Lashley against Heyman’s security force, or at least they used to be. Before I get to the results let me say this, I think the private security force has to be the worst gimmick in all of pro wrestling now and one of the worst ever (yes worse than TNA’s Shark Boy or WWE’s Spirit Squad). Anyways the handicapped match was no challenge for Lashley who is appears to be one of the most ripped and best trained wrestlers on any roster. Lashley used their own batons against them and pinned one of the henchman for the win.

There was more fallout from the December to Dismember EEC match as RVD took on Test. The match appeared to be going well for RVD until test used the ropes for leverage and stole a victory from the fan favorite Van Dam. Cheap pin for Test but what’s new. The newest fan favorite CM Punk took on Hardcore Holly in another matchup. In all of why wrestling viewings I would have to say HH is as extreme as they come. When he was sent through a table by RVD a few weeks back and was severely gashed it showed just how tough he was when he kept on fighting.

Holly got disqualified for ignoring the refs warnings and Punk retaliated against him making him tap out with an anaconda vice. Matt Striker called out Balls Mahoney and then proceeded to land a low-blow on the veteran wrestler. One final match pitted Tommy Dreamer against Daivari (another new storyline) and Dreamer won. Khali then choke slammed Dreamer after the win.
