Manny Pacquiao signs with Golden Boy
I got to read about this in the newspaper and “confirmed” it by swinging over to ESPN.com. According to Dan Rafael, the resident boxing writer at ESPN, Pacquiao signed a 7 bout contract with the Golden boy. He will be able to promote Pacquiao and it looks like He will end his career with the Golden Boy.
The latest move by De La Hoya involved paying Pacquiao a signing bonus of about $300,000 and was able to snag Pacquiao from Top Rank’s Bob Arum. Top Rank is still promoting Pacquiao’s fight this Nov. 18 against Morales. With the signing, Pacquiao will be joining fellow boxers MAB, Juan Marquez, Shane Mosley, Bernard Hopkins, and De La Hoya himself which is not a bad company to be with.
Although promoter Arum is still deciding what to do with the latest move by De La Hoya because Arum’s Top Rank and Hoya’s Golden Boy are bitter rivals.
“I’m not going to let it slide. What we do is up to the attorneys. I don’t like my contracts to be violated.” Arum said.
