Elevated Liver Enzymes in SmackDown Wrestlers

by Ron on August 8th, 2006

Bobby! If you probably noticed, a few wrestlers from WWE’s Smackdown have been out due to liver problems. Dalip “Great Khali” Singh, Francisco “Super Crazy” Islas and Bobby “Bobby Lashley” Lashley all missed “Great Americvan Bash” pay per view due to elevated liver enzymes.

I could only speculate as to the cause why they would have the same symptoms at particularly the same time. All I can do is guess. And this is what I am doing. I don’t have any hard proof but I am just making my own “educated” guess as to why they had elevated liver enzymes.

I read in this article that one of the consequences of taking anabolic steroids is liver damage.

“These abnormalities range from the common, but usually harmless, leakage of enzymes from the damaged liver tissue into the blood to rare, but very serious, liver cancer and liver bleeding.”

Of course this would be the obvious reason but there could be others. It’s just hard to imagine these guys not taking any stuff with the huge bodies they have and the pressure they go through to perform. One minute they have this normal-looking body then after a few weeks they bulked up beyond imagination.

But I think this is a good sign that WWE is taking drug use seriously. WWE has already hand out a couple of suspensions in relation to drug use, like Van Dam for example.

Let’s just hope it’s nothing serious.
