Jones decisions Prince Ajamu
The champ is back; well at least that’s what Jones said after winning a 12 round, unanimous decision against Prince Badi Ajamu in Idaho.
All three judges scored the fight 119-106 for Jones who used consistent body attack and slowed Ajamu down. He also withstood a wild flurry of punches in the opening round where he was pinned to the ropes to controlling the final 11 rounds. Although it looked like Jones was headed for another knockout loss similar to Glen Johnson in 2004 but was able to recover and showed some flashes of his showy self.
With the win, Jones was able to win the NABO belt. Jones raises his record to 50-4 with 38 KOs while Ajamu drops to 25-3-1 with 14KOs.
On to other matches:
William Guthrie stopped Luke Munsen with a TKO in the fifth round to win the vacant IBF International Cruiserweight title while cruiserweight Arthur Williams (43-14-1) stopped Kenny Keene (51-4) in the 10th round TKO. The 38-year-old Keene said after the fight he would retire.
