Roy Jones Jr. VS Prince Ajamu

by Ron on July 27th, 2006

The name of the PPV this coming Saturday is “Hold Nothing Back” and that is what I expect from the fight of Roy Jones Jr. and Badi Ajamu.

This is what you call a comeback fight for Roy Jones Jr who has lost his three previous fights. The first was when Tarver knocked him out in their May 2004 rematch. After that, Glen Johnson also knocked him out in their September 2004 title fight. Jones was able to hang-on in their rubber match with Tarver but lost in a lopsided decision.

I always said that one of my idols in boxing is Roy Jones Jr. He dominated the pound-for-pound rankings for almost a decade. Jones moved up and won the heavyweight crown when he beat John Ruiz. He was a former middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight champion.

Maybe his age has almost caught up with him.

At age 37, Jones (49-4, 38 KOs) will fight Badi Ajamu (25-2-1, 14KOs) in Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho. It is still PPV but I think it isn’t sponsored by HBO.

Here are the other bouts that will take place.

Cruiserweights, Kenny Keene (51-3, 28 KOs) vs. Arthur Williams (42-14-1, 29 KOs). Cruiserweights, William Guthrie (33-3-2, 26 KOs) vs. Luke Munsen (19-5, 13 KOs).

I want to see if Jones can recapture his old glory days. We just have to sit back and wait for the fight.
