The Great American Bash 2006
Unfortunately, I haven’t watched WWE’s “The Great American Bash” in its entirety because of “opportunistic businessmen” trying to cash in on SmackDown coming to town this October.
This is what they did.
Normally, WWE’s PPV are shown on our cable/satellite TVs which we subscribed to and pay a hefty fee every month just to get additional channels aside from the local channels we have. So in hyping up the public with Batista, who is half-Filipino, coming to town, they didn’t show “The Great American Bash” on cable and instead decided to hold a-PPV-like-showing of it in our cinemas.
Nevermind that it will be shown late. Let me tell you, it isn’t cheap either.
It’s ok to watch and PAY for something that is show live, like the fight of Pacquiao that was shown recently but for something that’s already delayed and normally shown on cable? Please.
Besides, I already caught some of the highlights on the internet. The internet is my friend.
Enough ranting, here are the results.
- Paul London & Brian Kendrick defeated The Pitbulls (Kid Kash & Jamie Noble) to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships. London hit Kash with a dropsault and in one motion, Kendrick followed up with a sunset flip for the pin.
- Finlay defeated William Regal to retain the WWE United States Championship. Lashley was deemed ineligible to compete by WWE physicians after tests revealed an elevated level of enzymes in the former United States Champion’s liver.
- WWE Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms defeated Matt Hardy in a Non-Title Match
- The Undertaker defeated ECW Champion Big Show in a Non-Title Match inside a Punjabi Prison. The Punjabi Prison was two bamboo cages with one around the ring and another going around the ringside area. To win the match, you must escape both cages. Each door would be opened for 60 seconds and then locked. The Big Show will be replacing The Great Khali in the Punjabi Prison Match. Khali, who was scheduled to face The Undertaker in the unique match, was pulled from the PPV after recent tests discovered a diseased liver.
- Ashley defeated Jillian, Kristal & Michelle McCool in a Four Way Bra & Panties Match.
- Mr. Kennedy defeated Batista via DQ. Batista choked Kennedy until the referee can’t take it anymore and announced the DQ. Batista gave Kennedy three spinebusters and a Batista Bomb. Mr. Kennedy will be replacing Mark Henry when he faces Batista. As reported on numerous times, Henry suffered a knee injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event last weekend.
- King Booker defeated Rey Mysterio to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion. Chavo screwed Mysterio by hitting him with the chair allowing Booker to pin him.
There you have it in a nutshell. One thing to note: a lot of wrestlers getting injured before big time matches. Well, its all part of the job description.

If you watched Saturday Night’s Main Event then you would know that Randy Orton challenged Hulk Hogan to a match at SummerSlam and after he did a RKO to Hulk Hogan on the car. Then 2 weeks later on WWE Raw Hulk Hogan beat him up and the commentator Jerry the King Lawler held on to Orton’s foot and helped the Hulkster

Yeah. I caught that on SNE. It would be nice to see Randy and Hogan’s daughter hook up. Just like Triple H and Stephanie. Haha
