Doug Fischer’s P4P List 06-2006
Since my good friend Jet mentioned that Doug Fischer has a new Pound for Pound list out, of course I had to check what the fuss was all about.
I just have one question right off the bat.
- What is a pound for pound list?
Of course I’ve heard of this but I had to research a bit on this (just to make sure) and from what I found out this is a term used in boxing to describe a fighter’s value in one weight class in relation to other fighters in other weigh class.
This is of course purely subjective. There are a bunch of weight classes in boxing. Here are some of them: Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight, Super Featherweight (Manny Pacquiao), and others. (Whew! That was tiring.)
So here’s the latest P4P list by Doug Fischer. A lot of sites have their own P4P list and the reason why I am posting this is because Manny Pacquiao is in first place, well sort of. Here are the top five boxers on his list.
1. (tie) Winky Wright, 50-3-1 (25), and Manny Pacquiao, 41-3-2 (32)
3. Bernard Hopkins, 47-4-1 (32)
4. Floyd Mayweather Jr., 36-0 (24)
5. Marco Antonio Barrera, 62-4 (42)
